Prep Baseball Report

Oregon 2026 Rankings

Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

Today we take our first look at rankings for the 2026 graduating class. The initial Top 10 is filled with a diverse collection of talent as this group of players begin occupying the halls of HS for the very first time. While a few players have already made their commitments, the vast majority on this list are still on the board.

This 2026 list will be updated and expanded throughout the year as players continue to showcase their ability once baseball season ramps back up.

Since its inception in 2005, the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into one of the country’s biggest and most respected independent scouting services, with a singular focus of providing comprehensive year-round coverage in every state we are in. The mission of the Prep Baseball Report is to scout and promote amateur baseball - high school, junior college and college - and, ultimately, help athletes achieve theirs of playing baseball at the next level.

Rankings are based on evaluations by scouting director Dan Jurik as well as additional PBR scouts across the country who have seen prospects from the state at various events.

With a majority of the prospects on the list uncommitted, the goal is for this information to help assist  college coaches as they look to finalize their recruiting classes and add additional pieces to their roster.

top 10

Schoolcraft starts at the top

Coming in at the #1 spot is '26 LHP Kruz Schoolcraft (Sunset). A highly touted LHP with an exciting blend of size, stuff and projection, Schoolcraft has been on the scene for a while now and continues to trend in the right direction. Left-handed pitchers are always in demand and his ability to profile as a starter long-term only helps separate him amongst his fellow classmates. The velocity has continued to tick up as he matures and fills out his incredibly long, high-waisted frame while the secondaries are becoming more consistent as is his willingness to use them. For a taller athlete, he controls his body well throughout the delivery and moves easily through his core. He can also swing it with authority from the left-side and delivers exciting power with the bat, which just enhances his overall profile. Expect to hear more from the talented southpaw throughout the spring of 2023.

Right behind Schoolcraft in the #2 and #3 spots are a pair of Oregon State commits who really excelled throughout the summer. '26 C Teagan Scott (South Salem) is a strong, physical offensive presence with above average athleticism behind the dish. '26 RHP Grady Saunders (Thurston) has above average polish on the mound with a short, quick arm path that produces exceptional life on the ball out of his hand.

left-handed bats

The trio of Trenton Hertzog (Tigard), Sawyer Nelson (South Salem) and Ty Burnham (Sheldon) all possess above average hitting ability from the left-side with the athleticism and projection to impact the game on the defensive side of the ball as well. Overall, their polish at the plate has helped separate them at an early age and we could see big offensive strides from all 3 players this upcoming spring as they continue to mature physically.

Rest of the Top 10

We round out the Top 10 with a wide range of skill-sets. Starting with the speedy and athletic Brock Johnson (North Eugene) who has the chance to be a dynamic playmaker in the middle of the diamond.  Then we get to ultra-physical corner OF bat Zach VandenBrink (West Linn) who possesses some of the best pure offensive potential in the group while also playing consistent defense in the OF. RHP Brody Meyer (Jesuit) is an exceptionally smooth & polished arm with the ability to command multiple pitches for strikes and already features a strong, durable frame. Do-it-all athlete DaMari Hall (West Salem) finishes off the list with his versatile skill-set and intriguing athleticism.
