Oregon 2026 Rankings Update

With the Oregon High School season coming to a conclusion this weekend and the summer circuit about to ramp up, it’s time for an update to the 2026 state rankings

The latest update  expands to 20 players in the Freshman class to keep an eye on this upcoming summer. With a full schedule of preseason events as well as the spring, these prospects have stood out in various ways over the past few months. 

Since its inception in 2005, the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into one of the country’s biggest and most respected independent scouting services, with a singular focus of providing comprehensive year-round coverage in every state we are in. The mission of the Prep Baseball Report is to scout and promote amateur baseball - high school, junior college and college - and, ultimately, help athletes achieve theirs of playing baseball at the next level. 

Rankings are based on evaluations by scouting director Dan Jurik as well as additional PBR scouts across the country who have seen prospects from the state at various events. 

With the overwhelming majority of the prospects on the list uncommitted, the goal is for this information to help assist college coaches as they look to finalize their recruiting classes and add additional pieces to their roster.

Top 3

‘26 LHP/1B Kruz Schoolcraft (Sunset) retains the #1 overall spot and has cemented himself as one of the top players in the country for his class. 

This spring, Schoolcraft was up to 92 mph with his FB in April and pitched 89-92 in his start. He features an above average CH at 80-81 that he effectively kills spin on and creates hard, late tumble. Also shows a breaking ball at 71-75 as his 3rd offering. 

With extra long levers and a high waisted frame, he creates easy leverage and still manages to work downhill from a ¾ slot. The delivery syncs up consistently and the arm path stays short into landing. The size leaves plenty of room for additional projection and it’s very reasonable to think the pure stuff will continue to tick up. 

At the #2 spot is Oregon State commit ‘26 C Teagan Scott (South Salem). The physical catcher shows above average defensive ability behind the dish and has an impactful bat at the plate. He’s shown an aggressive approach on our live looks and the power plays from gap to gap with a tight, compact stroke. 

#3 '26 INF Trenton Hertzog (Tigard) gets bumped up to #3 after showing off the upside this spring with his left-handed bat and hitting presence. Another athlete with a long, projectable frame, Hertzog is likely just beginning to tap into his power output and his hitting potential makes him an extremely enticing follow. 

new to the top 10...

#9 ‘26 1B/LHP Brody Whitcomb (Caldera) climbs into the top 10 after posting big numbers in the preseason, especially on the offensive side with his bat speed and exit velocity. On the mound, he continues to show a smooth, clean arm path with a loose finish out front and the velocity has continued to tick up each time out. 

#10 ‘26 C/RHP Carsten Lemon (Lake Oswego) cracks the top 10 for the first time as well. Strongly built catcher has an above average arm both behind the dish and on the mound. His strong levers help him rotationally both at the plate and with his throwing. He creates easy bat speed and the bat should produce consistent power down the road.

Newcomers...

#11 Cole Sauter (Sunset) cracks the updated list after a strong showing in the preseason and success this spring on Varsity as a Freshman. Strong bodied 2-way prospect who stands out on the mound with his ability to throw multiple pitches for strikes, highligted by his sharp breaking ball. 

#17 Ryden Nakamura (Ridgeview) also makes his way into the Top 20 after showcasing a mature skill set highlighted by his bat to ball skills and offensive polish. Controls the barrel with an easy, fluid swing from a balanced set up. Profiles well to the OF with a strong, accurate arm and solid defensive actions. Also has aptitude on the mound with feel for multiple offerings.
