Oregon Class of 2022 Rankings Update

By: Dan Jurik and Diego Solares

As the high school season commences in Oregon, the Prep Baseball Report staff is set to update the Class of 2022 Rankings in the Beaver State. This senior class has been a memorable one and we’re eager to follow them throughout their last season of high school baseball, starting with this post-winter update.

2022 rankings

The top-10 remains without any movement from our previous rankings release. We saw several of these players at our ProCase event in January and they all impressed, showcasing the developmental strides they made throughout another everso important off-season. This 2022 class, however, is still headlined by LHP Nelson Keljo (Jesuit; Oregon State), who’s one of the top southpaws in the entire country. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Beaver signee is a real reason why Jesuit started the season at number one overall in our Oregon High School Preseason Rankings and he’s continuously gained some serious draft momentum over the past few months. We’ve seen his fastball run up to as high as 94 mph and he’ll spin a quality breaking ball in the mid-70s to play off of it, too. Keljo’s grasp on the top spot on this list is firm and his baseball future seems to shine increasingly brighter by the day.

Coming in at #11 is Santa Clara commit INF Thomas Ferroggiaro (Central Catholic). A staple on the varsity roster at Central Catholic since his FR year, Ferroggiaro has a strong argument that he should have been in the Top 10 since Day 1 and if he has the senior season that he's capable of, he'll probably force his way in there soon. Look for him to shoulder a big role this season and play his way into POY consideration.

After a strong showing at our Preseason ProCase in January, C Max Bledy (Wilsonville; Pacific) rises up 14 spots in this update, now slotted at 13th overall. Bledy is an impressive athlete, running a 6.72 in the 60-yard dash at 6-foot, 200-pounds. He took one of the most physical BP rounds of that event, squaring up his hardest hit ball up at 100 mph with a peak batted distance of 342 feet to pair. Defensively, Bledy averaged pops in the 1.97-to-2.05 range and his hardest throw from the crouch topped at 82 mph, which was the highest number of the event. He’s one of the state’s biggest winter winners and we’re expecting positive things from him this season with the Wildcats

Jumping into the top-20 for the first time is 6-foot-2, 175-pound RHP Kellan Oakes (Canby; Linn-Benton CC). Oakes has one of the higher ceilings on the mound in this class, with reports of his fastball climbing into the upper-80s.

Keep an eye on the combination of Isaac Hill (Oregon State commit) and Nate Vidlak (College of Idaho commit) this season. The defending 4A state champs look to defend their title and have arguably one of the best 1-2 combos in the state on the mound.
