PBR Oregon - State Player Of The Year

Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

The 2019 spring high school season in Oregon generated some incredible individual moments and performances throughout all corners of the state. As the spring high school season comes to a close, Prep Baseball Report is excited to announce one player who emerged ahead of the competition at all levels in the state of Oregon. This player has been selected not only for their outstanding statistical numbers, but also for their overall effect on their high school program.

Dylan MacLean

Dylan MacLean’s all-around performance, as well as the impact he has had on Central Catholic, has earned him the 2019 Prep Baseball Report Oregon Player of the Year honors. A relatively unknown prospect coming into the spring of 2019, MacLean got off to a hot start and never slowed down his torrid pace. The highly effective lefty has poise and moxie well beyond his years. With an advanced feel for his 3 pitch mix, MacLean put up video game like numbers across his 78 innings of work. His FB sits mostly 82-85 but reaches as high as 86. Works both sides of the plate while consistently keeping the ball in the bottom 3rd of the zone. CB has tight bend to it at 69-72 with 2/7 type shape. Lastly, he doesn’t need the CH often at the HS level but it’s an above average offering at its best. Thrown with FB arm-speed, the CH sits mostly 72-74 with late, arm-side fade to it. MacLean was instrumental in leading Central Catholic to the 6A state finals where they finished as eventual runner-up.

Dylan MacLean has been selected amongst a strong group of candidates from across the state. The Prep Baseball Report staff has been diligently scouting and covering baseball games at baseball diamonds across the country this spring to bring parents, athletes and fans the most comprehensive coverage of amateur baseball across the United States. The dedication and coverage allow Prep Baseball Report a credible way to identify the top athletes each year.
