Quick Hits - Future Stars Fall Showcase - Corner INF

Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

Last weekend we were at the pristine Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex for a 1 day event with 2024-2026 prospects from both Washington & Oregon.

The event featured a player workout in the morning with 60 times, batting practice and defensive evaluations. After that, we transitioned into a controlled scrimmage to pitchers could face off against live hitters.

PBR events events such as this provide players with the opportunity to build their profile with the most up-to-date information and video footage. All players in attendance receive an online profile with their verified statistics, player report, picture and video. Additionally, all subsequent stories written about a prospect will be linked to the player’s profile, ultimately creating a one-stop shop for recruiters.

Showcases help identify which prospects have asserted themselves towards the top of their class as well as who might be one of the next youngsters to emerge onto the scene. They also serve as potential identifiers for invite-only events such as our Future GamesJunior Future Games and West Coast Games

Corner INF

‘24 1B/RHP Kire Dahl (Eastlake, WA)
Long, lean & wiry. We had eyes on Dahl earlier this summer at our OR Summer Kickoff and he really made impressive strides in all of his measurables in a short period of time. Offensively he showed power from the left side with exceptional bat speed and rotational numbers which bode well for additional development. Moves well at 1B with a solid catch radius. On the mound he has a compact arm path into a high ¾ release with downward angle on his offerings.

‘26 1B/LHP Kruz Schoolcraft (Century)
One of the youngest prospects at the event, Schoolcraft continues to build on a strong year in which he’s shown significant development. Had a good day at the plate against live pitching, getting on base with multiple BB and lining a hard oppo single in his last AB. The potential on the mound really stands out as his overall velocity, stuff and actions have made impressive progress.

‘24 LHP/1B Quin Dufort (Wilson)
A standout performer on the day. Dufort did a little bit of everything on the diamond. Starting with a crisp round of BP where he showed a clean, uphill swing with some lift. Collected a hit during game play. Also missed a ton of bats in his 2 innings of work on the bump. Has the look of a polished strike thrower with feel for how to use his arsenal. The size, frame & actions make him a strong follow in that ‘24 class and he has a chance to make big strides as he matures physically.

‘24 1B/RHP Lucas Geren (Cleveland)
6-foot, 200 lbs with present strength & a durable frame. Stays tall in the box & gives himself leverage at contact. Keeps hands tight to the body with lift after contact. Showed pop in game as he drove a deep double over the CF’s head. Ran his FB up to 80 on the mound and paired it with a solid 11/5 CB that features big shape and bend thru the zone. Power and arm strength give him 2-way potential moving forward.

‘24 1B/LHP Luke Fulkerson (Tigard)
6’2, 170 pounds with a L/L profile as a 1B/LH. Offensively, showed a simple set-up in the box with a wide base. Does a solid job staying short to the ball with quick hands despite his long levers. Actions and size should make him a dependable target over at 1B. On the mound, worked exclusively out of the stretch with an easy delivery. Arm path starts short then gets long through release. Short stride with a strong front side & continuous arm path. Could see a big jump on the mound with added strength.

‘24 RHP/1B Nolan McCormack (Tualatin)
Another big framed 2-way prospect who has the chance to add on to a promising frame. McCormack stands 6’2 about 165 with a wide upper half and long levers. Showed an athletic load at the plate with consistent rhythm leading into contact. Middle-oppo approach with gap-to-gap power. Size and defensive actions fit well at 1B. On the mound, shows clean & repeatable actions with a clean arm path. Everything works easily & helps him maintain control of his 3 pitch arsenal.

‘25 3B/1B Kamron Hood (Central Catholic)
Strong, compact frame with current strength that translates well to his game. Hood has a quick, connected swing and easy barrel control. Stays inside of the ball and consistently sprayed line-drive contact throughout BP. Showed good pitch recognition in-game and grabbed 2 hits across 3 plate appearances. Defensively should grow into a corner INF prospect with the chance to bounce between 3B and 1B as he gets more reps.

‘24 3B Diego Richards (Glencoe)
5’10, 155 pounds with a lean build throughout. Richards had a solid day on both sides of the ball. Offensively, keeps it simple in the box with a quiet, upright set-up. Barrel gets into the zone early and covers plenty of depth. Defensively, keeps a consistent tempo throughout the fielding process and gets rid of the ball quickly. Sure-handed type defender. Had a good showing at the plate in-game and went 1-2 on the day.

‘24 3B/RHP Grayson Grover (Scappoose)
Grover stands at 5’11 with a proportional frame between his upper and lower half. In the box, takes a controlled leg kick into a balanced forward move before initiating swing. Hands sync up well with lower half & he rotates against a strong front leg. Defensively he has confident, active feet at 3B and attacks the play with intent. On the mound, showed a FB/CB combination with a clean, compact arm action. Uses a simple delivery and keeps everything in line with target as he gets down the slope.

'25 3B/RHP Alexander Via (Summit)
Another young prospect who flashed exciting upside. Via started things off with a crisp round of BP, showing a tall, balanced set-up and compact load prior to swing. Stays upright at contact and rotates against a firm front leg. Hands work free and easy. Defensively he showed smooth, easy footwork with a clean exchange and loose arm action. On the mound, Via really excelled with his athletic delivery and exceptional FB. From a lower slot, Via was up to 83 mph and worked mostly 79-82. FB shows plenty of life/ride up in the zone and worked well with his tight SL. One of the more advanced arms we've seen for his class.
