We recently updated our 2025 class rankings for Oregon at the completion of the Fall season. Class rankings are updated multiple times throughout the year with the goal of helping coaches/evaluators identify players in the area.

Today we're spotlighting 3 uncommitted prospects who will begin 2023 in the rankings for their class and could be on the rise with a strong showing this year.

2025 prospects

Carter Hess RHP / OF / Summit, OR / 2025

Athletic build with a wide upper half and high waisted frame. Offensively sets up tall, with an upright stance and high hand placement. Slight bat wiggle for rhythm. Uses a simple forward move with a low leg lift into stride to create separation. Flat barrel path into contact with mostly line drive contact throughout BP. Showed some adjustability with lower half and ability to change plane. In the OF, moves easily with long, smooth strides. Deliberate tempo when closing in on the ball with late acceleration when coming thru the play. Long, continuous arm path with high over the top release. Clean arm action for OF with true ball flight out of hand.

Athleticism translates well to the mound with his simple mechanics and reliable body control. Steady pace into leg lift. Slight bend on backside as he pushes into lead hip drive getting down the slope. Slight shoulder angle at hand break. Lower half opens up easily with clean direction towards catcher at landing. Clean, easy arm action with a compact path into high ¾ release. Loose, easy finish out front with eyes on target. Keeps a shorter stride length and stays in his lower half. His ability to move through his core and arm action should allow him to make a jump in pure stuff quickly.

Wyatt Minto SS / 2B / Oregon City, OR / 2025

Compact frame with lean strength. At the plate, starts upright with tall, relaxed posture and lower half narrowly open. Uses a low leg lift to hover on backside before taking a short forward move. Actions stay quiet throughout and allow the barrel to work easily into contact. Swing covers the zone exceptionally well and allows him to spray contact from line-to-line. Noticeable knack for getting barrel to the ball. Stays balanced through finish and holds posture. Defensively, showed quick, active feet at SS with crisp actions. Starts tall in pre-pitch set up then plays low when coming through the ball and keeps momentum into throwing motion. Showed solid burst when moving up the middle while finishing plays on the move. Quick exchange with the hands into a ¾ release. Stays behind the throw and gets consistent accuracy to the bag. Quick & fluid on DP feeds. Confident glove hand.

Noah Kovac RHP / OF / Sandy, OR / 2025

Lean build at 6’0, 160 lbs and proportional frame. In the box, lower half is just outside shoulder with and there’s bend in the knees as they press inwards. Stays tall with slight flexion on back leg at leg lift before short forward stride. Active hands into landing that shift down and back to load prior to swing. Quick, whippy barrel into the zone with an uphill path after contact. Worked gap to gap with consistent lift into the middle of the field. Contact type approach. Clean actions defensively in the OF. Steady, deliberate strides. Head stays behind the ball. Uses side shuffle as he exchanges into throwing motion. Clean, continuous arm path with high ¾ release and accurate ball flight.

On the mound, continues to show clean mechanics and an easy operation. Solid pace through delivery with late acceleration out front. Coils into back hip during high leg lift while eyes stay on target and shoulders remain level. Short stride length helps him stay in his legs and move easily from the ground up. Tight, compact arm action that is consistently on time when he gets into landing. Quick hand speed out front. Aggressive finish out over front side with a strong lead leg. Noticeable polish with the FB command and his secondaries.
