Underclass Spotlight - 2025 Grads

As we wrap up the summer season and prepare for Fall. We're taking a look back and some previous events and spotlighting prospects across various grad classes

Earlier this summer we hosted our Top Prospect event for 2025-2026 prospects at Wilsonville HS. 

Here are 3 performers from the event to keep an eye on moving forward.

underclass spotlight

2025 grads - OR TOp Prospect

Brady Ackerman 3B / RHP / Canby, OR / 2025

Body: 5’10, 185 lbs. Short levers with stocky strength. 

Hit: Advanced hit tool. Sets up balanced, slightly open with some bend in lower half. Slow, controlled load & weight shift. Hands use a short, quick move to create separation. Lands in athletic posture with balance. Proper sequence gives him easy bat speed & pop. Barrel accelerates into the zone. Creates loft with high finish against strong front side. Hands stay tight/connected throughout

Power: 93.3 peak EV with more on the way. Consistently impacts the baseball with authority to all fields. Power plays from gap-to-gap. Projects for power to all fields with bat speed & swing plane. 

Arm: Clean arm action. Stays compact when getting rid of the ball at 1B. Presently up to 76 mph. Likely to see a jump quickly as he adds strength. Has been up to 80 mph on the bump with his top FB. 

Defense: Corner INF profile. Solid footwork around the bag at 1B. Does a solid job staying low and working beneath the ball. Capable receiver. 

Run: Speed has improved across every event since 2020 while not compromising any power production. Projects to be average for 1B/3B, especially once underway.

Boyd Messman C / 3B / South Salem, OR / 2025

Body: 5’11, 155 lbs. Wiry upper half & proportional frame. 

Hit: Wide, spread out lower half. Flashed both a leg lift & no stride, toe-tap load. Quick, athletic trigger prior to swing in both instances. Hands shift down & back prior to launching swing. Loose barrel action into contact. Quickness in the hands. Works uphill thru contact with a posted front side for leverage. Controlled intent

Power: Peak EV of 89.1 with consistent lift. Higher launch angle, 29.1 deg avg off the bat. Likely to produce doubles power presently with chance to drive the ball more with added strength. 

Arm: 70 mph from C. Tight, bent arm action with ¾ release. Ball shows carry to the bag. Extends out front at release and stays behind the ball well

Defense: Clean exchange behind the plate with solid footwork. Consistent direction towards 2B helps accuracy. Quiet receiver. Hips stay below the baseball. Showed ability to receive with 1KD.

Run: 7.44 runner, improved since last event. 

Pitching

Delivery: Steady paced, consistent tempo. High leg lift into lead hip drive. Stays tall, hands break over rubber. Avg stride length. Level shoulder plane. Slight cross action at landing. 

Arm Action: High takeaway straight back. Gets bent at landing and stays on-time. Loose finish out front. 

FB: Peak 75.6 mph. 2,049 avg rpm. Shows some ride at top of zone

CB: 58-61 mph. 11/5 shape. Downer action with lower spin. Tumbles late. 

CH: 65-66 mph. Kills spin well. 1,315 avg rpm. More of a straight CH with late drop.

Landen Sigler 2B / OF / Mountainside , OR / 2025

Body: 5’9, 145. Short, compact levers with athletic frame

Hit: Contact approach. Sprays to all fields. Flat path into contact with high finish. Open set up. Leg lift load as hands push back. Athletic landing. Body/core speeds up the barrel. Strong front side at contact. ‘Hitterish’ in the box. Moves well & controls the barrel

Power: Gap to gap with developing lift to pull-side. Gets to his peak power in game with sound approach and quality swing decisions. Above avg hand speed. 

Arm: Clean arm path from both SS and OF. Clean, continuous motion with whippy finish. Projectable. More velo on the way. Accurate ball flight with true carry out of hand. 

Defense: Active feet on the INF. Moves with confidence and body control. Consistent glove hand capable of handling off balance plays. Understands the speed of the play and responds accordingly. Doesn’t get rushed. Can handle multiple INF spots and also move to OF in a pinch. Long, easy strides when tracking the ball in OF. Actions adjust well to either spot. 

Run: Quick starter out of the gate. Solid runner underway. Plays fast in-game.
