As the 2024 baseball season comes to a close, Prep Baseball Oregon continues our new offseason series of Uncommitted Spotlights, highlighting standout performers that attended a Prep Baseball showcase event this year. Uncommitted spotlights are meant to showcase players that Prep Baseball Scouts felt showed standout tools, large improvements in overall game, or potential upside moving forward. College coaches and recruiters should be sure to keep an eye on these prospects in the coming months.

Today, we spotlight 2026 catcher Cole Angel. The South Albany High School product is a multi-sport athlete that attended the 2024 PNW Preseason All-State event in February. Angel is the 48th ranked prospect in the 2026 class, coming off of a solid showing at this event.

Angel is a sound athlete for the catcher position, running a 7.18 60-yard dash as his best time. The righty features a repeatable swing that generates loft consistently by sinking into his rear side. Defensively, Angel showed great framing ability and throws on the bag to second base. Angel should be a key contributor for South Albany in 2025 and beyond. Below is a breakdown of the player, including a scouting report and video from the winter event.
