State Games Spotlight - '27 OF Gino Humphrey
November 4, 2024
This winter, Prep Baseball Oregon is reflecting upon their showcase circuit and highlighting standout performers. Today, we continue our State Games Spotlight series, specifically looking at players that participated in this year's Pacific Northwest State Games. These spotlights are meant to showcase players that Prep Baseball Scouts felt showed standout tools, large improvements in overall game, or potential upside moving forward at the summer's biggest event. College coaches and recruiters should be sure to keep an eye on these prospects in the coming months.
Today, we spotlight 2027 OF Gino Humphrey. The South Eugene High School product moved up to the #10 ranked player in Prep Baseball's most recent 2027 Rankings Update. Humphrey is a natural athlete with strength present in his 5'10 frame and will undoubtedly be a player to watch moving forward.
At the PNW State Games, Humphrey stood out with mature rounds of BP and swings that translated in-game. The right-hander had an impressive peak exit velocity of 97.3 MPH and averaged 83.8 MPH. He also showed easy ability to lift the ball with authority with a combined line drive and fly ball percentage of over 80%. Pairing this with some quick actions shown defensively, and Humphrey was among the best of the 2027 Oregon class at the event.
