Q and A with Dylan Evert, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound, C, Bristol HS, Class of 2014

          Dylan Evert

PBR:  What type of training did you do this past winter to prepare for the high school season?
Evert:  This past winter I had a private speed & agility coach, and also did my catching, infield and hitting training at my summer team’s place, The Hit Doctor. I also did weight training at my High School.

PBR:  Now that your sophomore season is coming to a close what do you plan to do over the next 18 months to catch the eyes of college scouts?
Evert:  I plan on attending several college camps and showcases. I will also be sending out my season stats to those teams I’m interested in along with my summer schedule.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience from last summer?
Evert:  I play Fall & Summer Baseball with Tri State Arsenal. My travel team is based out of Voorhees, NJ. I have two most memorable experiences from my 2011 season. The first was beating Japan in the Summer National Championship played in Crystal Lake, IL and the other was making the 2011 Gold Medal Games through USSSA and winning the Gold. I played against several teams from other countries.

PBR:  What position do you anticipate playing in college?
Evert:  I am mainly a catcher with also a lot of infield experience having played 3rd base. For my HS team I have also been playing shortstop. I’m a well-rounded player and feel I can play where I suit the team best.

PBR:  What is your current GPA?
Evert:  My current GPA is 3.7

PBR:  What’s the biggest baseball event or tournament on your calendar in the coming months?
Evert:  With Tri-State Arsenal at this age we will play in several Showcase events. These are all big events when it comes to showcasing my talents. I will have three week long trips to Georgia for the Perfect Game WWBA, playing both 17U & 16U. I will also be playing in the 16U Perfect Game World Series. We will also be playing at the University of North Caroloina, the University of Delaware and Diamond Nations.

PBR: Who is the toughest player in your class that you have played against or with?
The toughest player I play with is my teammate for my Summer Team, Cole Creighton. He is a pitcher and outfielder. He is strong and fast. When he is in the outfield I know I have to hit the ball extremely far or on the ground. He covers a large area out there. His bat can also be a threat with big hits and he has speed on the bases.
