Catcher Analysis: Week #1 of Fall College Prospect Program

A total of five catchers participated in the first weekend of the Fall College Prospect Program, with Zach Murray and Dan Trettel making appearances at both stops. Following is a review of each of the catchers that took part in the initial weekend of the program.

Jake KleindlC/1B Jake Kleindl, Shady Side Academy, Class of 2014

Kleindl showcased pop times of 1.97-2.05 on throws of 73 mph out of the crouch. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound backstop also turned in the top bat exit velocity at La Roche College at 92 mph. Kleindl went 1-for-2 in game action with a double and a fly out to the wall in left field. He also showed the ability to handle himself well around the 1B bag during game action.

C/3B Robby Korff, Woodland Hills HS, Class of 2017

Korff is a 5-foot-9, 150-pound prospect that has yet to play a game in high school. He showcased pop times of 2.28-2.37 on throws of 67 mph from the crouch and an 84 mph bat exit velocity. Korff went 1-for-4 with a double in game action and was part of a slick 3-2-3 double play that ended an inning defensively.

C Connor McWilliams, Brentwood HS, Class of 2015

McWilliams has a very projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds. He showcased pop times of 2.03-2.12 on throws of 74 mph out of the crouch. McWilliams went 1-for-3 with a double in game action at Seton Hill University and displayed a bat exit velocity of 77 mph.

C/RHP Zach Murray, Baldwin HS, Class of 2014

Murray showcased pop times of 2.03-2.06 on throws of 77 mph from the crouch and an 89 mph bat exit velocity. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect went 2-for-4 with a double at the plate over the weekend and swiped several bases. Murray worked two effective innings on the mound at La Roche College, topping at 80 mph.

C/3B Dan Trettel, North Allegheny HS, Class of 2014

Trettel showcased a 1.97 in game pop time in gunning down a runner at Seton Hill University. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound prospect throws of 73 mph out of the crouch and a 90 mph bat exit velocity.
