Most teams have one more week of regular season action before playoff games begin the following week. Teams will be positioning themselves for a better seeding in their respective district playoffs so expect some good games and great performances by team leaders in crunch time.

Game of the Week - Bellwood-Antis 7, Mount Union 6

  • Bellwood-Antis scored three runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to record a big win in a game that included two teams with a combined record of 26-6. The rally began with the first two runs scoring on two Mount Union errors. Trenton Creppage then scored Chad Luensmann with a sacrifice fly for the walk-off win. Mount Union’s Cole Boozel struck out 14 and walked five. Creppage (2 RBI) and Casey Gray each went 3-for-4. Bellwood-Antis improved to 13-2, while the Mount Union Trojans fell to 13-4.

Top Pitching Performances

  • Philipsburg-Osceola’s Caleb Pepperday went the distance in a 5-1 win over Huntingdon on Friday. Pepperday allowed one run on six hits, struck out nine and pitched out of many jams (five walks).
  • Penns Valley’s Max Bair tossed a two-hitter in a 4-2 win over Bald Eagle Area. Both runs were unearned as Bair walked five, but struck out six to earn the victory.
  • Clayburg-Kimmel’s Cameron Strayer struck out 12 batters in a five-inning 13-2 victory Saturday against Moshannon Valley.
  • Altoona’s Alex Lytle gave up only one hit to Bishop Guilfoyle in an 8-3 victory on Friday. Lytle struck out nine and walked five in six innings.
  • Bishop McCort’s lefty Nathan Neiderheiser went the distance in a 5-1 victory Thursday over Somerset. The junior allowed only one run on three hits and struck out six. Neiderheiser walked three but induced two double play groundballs to get out of jams against a deep and talented Somerset lineup.
  • North Star’s lefty Shane Supanick threw his third consecutive complete game in a 4-2 win over Portage on Thursday. The junior allowed only one earned run on five hits. Supanick kept the Mustangs off balanced with his curveball and overpowered with an elevated fastball to strike out 11.
  • Hollidaysburg’s Dom Viduya threw a one-hitter in a five-inning 10-0 win over Philipsburg-Osceola. The senior struck out 11 and allowed only one walk in a dominating performance.
  • BryjaPortage’s Michael Bryja went the distance in a 2-1 win over Conemaugh Valley Tuesday. The sophomore righty allowed six hits, but struck out five and did not walk any batters.
  • Bellwood-Antis’ Casey Gray threw a six-inning perfect game (18 up, 18 down) in a 10-0 Monday win over Glendale. The junior righty struck out 14.
  • Conemaugh Valley’s Blake Furman threw his second consecutive no-hitter in a 10-0 win over Blacklick Valley on Thursday. Furman struck out 10 and only walked one. Furman also threw a no-hitter April 25.
  • Meyersdale’s Steve Haer struck out 11 in a complete game 7-1 victory over Salisburg-Elk Lick on Friday.
  • Cambria Heights’ Josh Serafin threw a complete game shutout in a 7-0 Wednesday victory over Penn Cambria. Serafin allowed six hits and struck out seven while allowing no walks.
  • Somerset’s Brent Barron threw a three-inning perfect game, striking out four, in a 20-0 win over Bishop Carroll on Monday.
  • Conemaugh Township’s Dillon Boyer threw a complete game four-hitter and only giving up one run in a 7-1 win over Blacklick Valley on Tuesday. Boyer struck out 13.
  • Meyersdale’s Connor Christner struck out 12, allowing only three hits in an 8-3 win over Rockwood on Tuesday.
  • Forest Hills’ Alex Murphy struck out eight in a three-hit complete game shutout over Penn Cambria on Tuesday.

Top Hitting Performances

 

  • Bishop Guilfoyle’s T.J. Krol went 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI in a 9-4 consolation victory Saturday over Bishop Carroll in the Ron Fiochetta Tournament.
  • Central’s Bradi Moore went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a triple, and 3 RBI in a 9-2 win over Bellefonte on Thursday. 
  • Northern Bedford’s Isaac Stern went 2-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI in an 11-7 victory over Bellwood-Antis on Friday. Stern also went 3-for-4 with two runs, a double and a grand slam in a 12-5 victory over Southern Huntingdon on Friday.
  • Clayburg-Kimmel’s Devin Weyandt went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI in a doubleheader sweep over Moshannon Valley on Saturday.
  • Claysburg-Kimmel’s Zach Cox went 4-for-6 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and four RBI in a doubleheader sweep over Moshannon Valley on Saturday.
  • Hollidaysburg’s Brett Hileman went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and four RBI in a 16-1 victory over Bishop Carroll on Friday. Hileman also went 3-for-3 with a double, a grand slam and 5 RBI in a 7-6 win over Bald Eagle on Wednesday.
  • Altoona’s Travis Baker went 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and 2 RBI in an 8-3 victory over Bishop Guilfoyle on Friday.
  • BonatestaNorthern Cambria’s Josh Bonatesta went 3-for-5 with two triples and a double, three runs scored and four RBI in an 18-8 win over Penns Manor on Wednesday.
  • Central’s Austin Cunningham went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs in a 9-7 victory over Philipsburg-Osceola on Wednesday.
  • Central Cambria’s Will Seymour went 2-for-3 with two home runs and 3 RBI in a 17-5 loss to Cambria Heights.
  • Richland’s David Barefoot went 3-for-4 with two runs and a home run in a 7-5 win over Westmont on Thursday.
  • North Star’s Tony Strasiser hit two home runs and drove in six runs in a 12-0 victory Friday over Shanksville-Stonycreek.
  • Conemaugh Township’s Dillon Boyer went 3-for-3 with three doubles, two runs scored and four RBI in a 12-0 victory over Shanksville-Stonycreek on Monday.
  • Somerset’s Mike Flyte went 3-for-3 with three runs, a double, a home run and four RBI in a 20-0 win over Bishop Carroll on Monday.
