With the start of the high school season less than a week away we will be previewing conferences around the state leading up to opening day. In addition to a look at the top teams we will also highlight some of the top prospects in each conference.
Shady Side (17-7)
Shady Side was hit with some substantial losses to graduation but returns a strong nucleus of juniors and seniors that make them the early season favorite following a 17 win season in 2013.
Greensburg Central Catholic (9-12)
The Centurions bring back ace Collin Liberatore (6-1) and a talented 2016 SS in Tommy Pellis. Several other underclassmen saw considerable innings in 2013 and should be able to slide into spots vacated by four senior starters.
Jake Kleindl, Shady Side Academy (Class of 2014)
Kleindl is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound C/1B that is ranked No. 99 in the PA Class of 2014. The right-handed hitter has shown the ability to play two positions defensively at the next level and has some legitimate pop in his bat (92 mph bat exit velocity). Kleindl is a returning All-Section selection.
