Elite Prospect Showcase Preview: SS/2B Nate Fassnacht

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

Nate FassnachtThe 2014 Elite Prospect Showcase will take place on November 1 and promises to bring together many of the top prospects in the Class of 2016, 2017 & 2018 as well as a few talented unsigned seniors. Last year's inaugural event was highly successful with 18 players going on to make college commitments to date. Among those in attendance last year, 2016 OF J.J. Bleday (Titusville) was one of the standouts. The two-way prospect went on to make a commitment to Vanderbilt shortly after the completion of the event and was named this fall to the final USA Baseball 59 man roster for the 2015 18-and-under National Team Trials.

The 2014 version of this event is just two weeks away and the roster is filling quickly. Over the coming weeks we will preview those on the roster as well as those that are added prior to the registration deadline on October 26.

SS/2B Nate Fassnacht, Ephrata (2016)

Fassnacht has shown steady gains in arm strength, bat speed and explosiveness over the past two years. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound switch-hitting middle infielder has worked hard to add to his frame and the efforts have resulted in improvements on the field. Fassnacht flashed an 86 mph arm across the diamond and displayed much improved feet (6.97 60-yard dash) during the PA Top Prospect Games in June. Fassnacht showcased an 85 mph bat exit velocity and turned heads with a barreled fly ball that was caught near the 400' sign in dead center field during game action.
