Joe LaFioraJust 11 days remain until PBR Pennsylvania's Elite Prospect Showcase on October 29th at Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim. Today, we continue a series of previews on prospects who will be in attendance, as we highlight Neumann-Goretti 2018 1B/LHP Joe LaFiora.

The junior has shown above average two-way abilities at multiple PBR events as well as in games that we have seen him play over the past 12 months. At this event last year the left-handed hitter impressed. He starts from a square stance, rocks his weight to his backside with a knee-to-knee stride, and lands slightly closed. LaFiora keeps his head still and stays under control throughout his swing. He has a chance to drive the baseball (87-mph exit velocity). Defensively, he moved well and showed a soft glove hand with 75-mph arm strength.

The lefty has also displayed the ability to get outs with solid command on the bump. LaFiora was very effective at the Under Armour Classic in June when he tossed six innings, allowing just one run on seven hits and a walk while striking out four. He commanded his fastball to both sides of the plate at 77-80 mph while also keeping the Elite Squad hitters off balance with a 72-mph slider pitching for MSI/Bubba Baseball.
