Fall Program: Week Three Catcher Analysis

The 2nd Annual Fall College Prospect Program came to a close on September 28 with a final stop at Widener University. The fall format involved two nine inning games and a showcase at each of three stops over the course of the month of September. Today we begin our analysis of the prospects in attendance during Week Three of the program by taking a look at the catchers in attendance.

Top Prospect


Brennan McAllisterBrennan McAllister, C, Middletown HS, DE (2015)

McAllister showcased the best pop times on the day at 1.96-2.03. His quick feet, clean transfer and 73 mph arm out of the crouch should play well at the next level. McAllister barreled the baseball routinely during batting practice with a leg lift stride out of a square stance. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound uncommitted senior went 2-for-4 with a double in game action while squaring the baseball in a third at bat. McAllister ran a 7.44 60-yard dash and displayed an 83 mph bat exit velocity.


Best of the rest (In alphabetical order)


Andrew Coleman
, C/2B, West Chester Rustin HS, PA (2015)

Coleman barreled the baseball in all three at bats in Game One action. The 5-foot-8, 170-pound uncommitted senior has a sturdy frame and displayed the athleticism to play multiple defensive positions. Coleman runs a 7.35 60-yard dash and has shown a top pop time of 1.97 at previous PBR events.

Sean Kelly, C, Archbishop Wood HS, PA (2016)

Kelly showcased a quick transfer with a strong 75 mph arm from the crouch with pop times of 2.06-2.18. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound junior is athletic and should continue to improve with additional work on his footwork and mechanics. Kelly is a right-handed hitter that starts from a square stance with a high hands load. He displayed a flat barrel path and the ability to use all fields in batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Kelly flashed good feet in running a 7.14 60-yard dash.

Joseph Kroeger, C/OF, Central York HS, PA (2016)

Kroeger is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound junior that showcased the ability to play multiple positions. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance with a high hands load. Kroeger squared the baseball routinely in batting practice with a line drive approach and a flat barrel path. The right-handed hitter registered an 80 mph bat exit velocity and went 1-for-3 with two runs scored in Game Two action. Kroeger showcased pop times of 2.16-2.19 on throws of 69 mph from the crouch and ran a 7.31 60-yard dash.

Collin Sheehan, C/3B, Central Bucks East HS, PA (2017)

Sheehan is a promising 6-foot-1, 185-pound sophomore backstop that went 2-for-5 with a double in game action. The left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and stays behind the baseball well. Sheehan used a lift and replace stride to generate an 82 mph bat exit velocity while consistently squaring the baseball during batting practice. He displayed an accurate 71 mph arm with pop times of 2.06-2.19 out of the crouch. Sheehan also showed athletic actions with a 75 mph arm across the diamond from third base.

Jack Shevlin, C/3B, Marple Newtown HS, PA (2015)

Shevlin showcased the top arm among catchers at the event at 78 mph with pop times of 2.00-2.06. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound uncommitted senior displayed the ability to consistently put the baseball on the bag and could see improved results if a small hitch in his delivery were to be eliminated. Shevlin hits from a square stance with a lift and replace stride. The right-handed hitter registered a 79 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.88 60-yard dash.
