Fall Program: Week Three Pitcher Analysis

The 2nd Annual Fall College Prospect Program came to a close on September 28 with a final stop at Widener University. The fall format involved two nine inning games and a showcase at each of three stops over the course of the month of September. Today we continue our analysis of the prospects in attendance during Week Three of the program by taking a look at the pitchers in attendance.

Top Prospects

Rob BrownRob Brown, LHP, Penncrest HS, PA (2015)

Brown sat 80-82 from a 3/4 arm slot with arm side run to his fastball. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound uncommitted lefty also mixed a 69 mph curveball with 1/7 shape and a sharp breaking slider at 73 mph. Brown worked quickly and pounded the strike zone registering five strikeouts, including all three hitters in his final inning of work. He has a frame that projects additional velocity gains and hides the baseball well with a high knee delivery and long arm motion.


Jeff Dixon
Jeff Dixon, RHP, Cherry Hill West HS, NJ (2015)


Dixon got touched up for six hits in three innings of work, but his arm works and his fastball topped at 88 mph. The 6-foot-3, 160-pound uncommitted senior has plenty of room to add to his frame and his 72 mph curveball shows definite out potential. Although his 78 mph changeup and curveball showed promise, Dixon utilized his fastball that sat 85-88 roughly 90 percent of the time.  


Jordan SilvermanJordan Silverman
, LHP, Council Rock South HS, PA (2015)

Silverman is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound Rider commit that cruised through three innings of work sitting 78-80 with arm side run to his fastball out of a 3/4 arm slot. The lefty mixed a 68 mph changeup at fastball arm speed with a 65 mph curveball with 1/7 rotation to keep hitters off balance. Silverman allowed two hits while striking out two.

Jimmy Lamiet
, RHP, The Tatnall School, PA (2016)

Lamiet is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound junior that topped at 71 mph from a 3/4 arm slot. The big right-hander worked three scoreless innings allowing just one hit. Lamiet also displayed an occasional 57 mph curveball while in retiring the final eight batters he faced.

Santino Nave', RHP/2B, Roman Catholic HS, PA (2017)

Nave' sat 77-78 from a high 3/4 arm slot with some arm side run from a high 3/4 arm slot. The 5-foot-8, 140-pound sophomore displayed command of a solid 65 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation allowing just one run over three innings of work. Nave' flashed athletic actions as a middle infielder whiled showcasing a 79 mph bat exit velocity at the plate. The right-handed hitter showed the ability to use all fields from a square stance with a flat barrel path during batting practice.

Evan McKenna, RHP, Spring-Ford HS, PA (2015)

McKenna allowed just one run over three innings of work while striking out four from an over-the-top arm slot, topping at 78 mph. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound unsigned senior also displayed command of a 68 mph 11/5 breaking curveball, a 70 mph changeup and a 71 mph cutter that has late slider break. McKenna has a projectable frame and his arm slot creates interesting angles to the plate.

Jordan Nichols
, LHP, Northern Lebanon HS, PA (2015)

Nichols is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound unsigned senior that worked three scoreless innings in Game Two action. The lefty topped at 81 mph with arm side run to his fastball out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Nichols displayed fluid mechanics and command of a 69 mph 1/7 breaking curveball along with a quality 73 mph changeup thrown at fastball arm speed. He allowed three hits while striking out five in a solid performance.

Colin Sawyer, RHP, West Chester Rustin, PA (2015)

Sawyer worked three scoreless innings topping at 76 mph from an over-the-top arm slot. The 5-foot-10, 150-pound unsigned senior showed an occasional 69 mph changeup at fastball arm speed with fading action and a 65 mph curveball with 12/6 rotation. Sawyer pounded the strike zone allowing just one hit while registering four ground ball outs.

Travis Wickard, RHP, Boiling Springs HS, PA (2016)

Wickard topped at 84 mph from a high 3/4 arm slot. The 6-foot, 170-pound junior sat 82-83 with cut action to his fastball while also flashing a developing two-seamer that has arm side run at 79 mph. Wickard also commanded a 70 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation and a 71 mph changeup at near fastball arm speed while striking out four.
