Game Recap: Downingtown West at Bishop Shanahan

Downingtown West 5, bishop shanahan 0

Drew Britt has been dominant all season for the Whippets and Thursday afternoon was no different.  The 6-fot-5, 220-pound right-hander, ranked No. 35 in the PA Class of 2018, tossed a complete game shutout on just three hits to lead Downingtown West to a 5-0 win over Bishop Shanahan.

Drew BrittBritt (pictured right) was perfect for 4.1 innings before allowing his first base runner on a one out walk in the 5th inning.  Following a ground ball out he allowed his first hit of the game on an infield single. One out singles to Texas Christian commit Nick O'Day in the 6th and to 2020 RHP/1B Danny Heintz in the 7th were the only other hits he would allow.  Britt's final line read 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K.

The Whippets scored the only run that they would need in the top of the 2nd inning on a single by Nick Marcelli and a sacrifice fly by Josh Willenbrock.  A double by Mike Mollenhauer drove in the game's second run an inning later.  Downingtown West put the game away in the 7th plating three runs on an RBI groundout by North Carolina commit Eric Grintz, a single by Britt, and a defensive miscue.
