La Salle 15, Cardinal O'Hara 5 (5 inn)

If there was any question coming into the game between the Catholic League Red Division co-leaders about who should be considered the favorite during the stretch run, the Explorers erased all doubt with an emphatic victory. O'Hara looked to be in the catbird seat with a 4-1 lead through two innings and their ace on the mound, but La Salle's offense took over the game, scoring five runs in the third inning and nine in the fourth.

Dominic Cuoci2015 1B Chris Salvey and 2015 OF Nick Newman knocked in first inning runs for the Lions, while 2014 SS John Banes extended the short-lived lead with a 2-run double in the second. Dom Cuoci (St. Joseph's - photo top right) started the Explorers' third inning scoring by crushing a home run to left-center, while 2015 SS A.J. Grezeszak's RBI single followed 2015 OF Tommy Albertson's bases clearing double. The first twelve hitters of the fourth inning reached base, with the onslaught including five hits, four walks, three HBP, one error and a sac fly.

Cuoci (2-2, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB) and Albertson (2-3, 2B, 4 RBI) led the La Salle John Scheffeyoffense in support of 2014 LHP John Scheffey (5 IP, 6 H, 3 BB, 2 K - photo bottom right).  Banes (2-2, 2B, 3 RBI, BB) was the offensive star for the Lions out of the leadoff spot.

La Salle will send Cuoci (2013 PBR District XII Pitcher of the Year) to the mound against O'Hara on Thursday, as it looks to take a commanding two game lead in the division with four games to play.
