Game Recap: Greencastle-Antrim at East Pennsboro

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

Greencastle-antrim 2, East Pennsboro 1

Senior lefty Drew Miller, a Millersville University signee, was on his game Monday afternoon striking out 10 in five innings of work. The 6-foot-1, 165-pounder allowed five hits and just two runs, both of which scored in the third inning after retiring the first two hitters of the frame.

The good news for Greencastle was that Penn State signee Myles Gayman was just a little bit better. The 6-foot-3, 170-pound right-hander also worked five innings allowing just one run while limiting East Pennsboro to three hits and striking out four.

Matt Kline, a Cowley County CC (Kansas) commit, worked the final two innings in relief of Gayman, getting out of a bases loaded jam in the 6th before a three up, three down 7th for the save.

East Pennsboro opened the scoring in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Virginia Tech signee Connor Yoder reached on an error, stole second base and came home on a single by junior catcher Conor Barber.

The lead was short lived as Greencastle bounced back to plate two runs of their own in the top of the 3rd inning. Gayman got the two-out rally started with a sharp single to right field. Austin Branchman coaxed a walk and Kline delivered a run scoring single to tie the game at one. One batter later catcher Quin Ambeault laced a single to drive in the go-ahead, and as it turned out, game winning run. The uncommitted senior went 2-for-3 on the evening and showed solid defensive skills as well (for more on Ambeault see today's Pennsylvania Scout Blog).

Greencastle's top four hitters combined for six of the team's seven hits on the evening. East Pennsboro was held to just four hits on the evening with Dalton Miller, Nick Embleton and Brady Madden adding singles in addition to Barber's RBI single.
