Game Recap: Penn Charter at Wissahickon

By Jacob Gill
Pennsylvania Assistant Director of Scouting

Penn Charter 6, Wissahickon 1

Three Penn Charter pitchers -- junior LHP Brendan Cellucci (Miami), junior RHP Alex Cohen, and sophomore LHP Michael Siani (Virginia) -- combined on a four-hitter, as one of the Inter-Ac favorites knocked off one of the top teams in District I in a non-conference tilt.

Cellucci (5 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 HBP, 4 K) and Wissahickon freshman starter Quinn Rovner (4 IP, 6 H, 0 BB, 1 K) threw up zeros through the first three frames before the Quakers sent seven men to the plate in a three-run fourth. UConn-bound catcher Kenny Bergman's second double of the game and consecutive run-scoring at-bats from freshman outfielder Sammy Siani, junior shortstop Dom Toso, and junior DH/OF James Gabor forged a lead that was never relinquished, and doubled with another three-run inning in the fifth.

The homestanding Trojans had their chances, getting the first two batters on base in the second and fourth innings, and loading the bases with none out in the sixth and seventh, but were unable to cash in outside of a sac fly from junior catcher Andrew Seitz in the penultimate frame. Their final rally was quelled on a diving catch of a sinking line drive by Gabor in left field with the bases loaded and no outs in the seventh that he turned into a 7-5 double play.
