McDowell 5, Meadville 2

Gannnon recruit Matt Manczka allowed two runs over the first two innings, one of which was earned, but nothing more in leading McDowell to a win over Meadville on Wednesday to open league play for both teams.

Manczka, currently ranked No. 195 in the PA Class of 2019, allowed just two hits in going the distance for the win. Meadville starter Nick Frantz was stellar allowing no earned runs in his five innings of work while striking out nine.

OF Chris Juchno, No. 29 in the PA Class of 2021, led off the top of the 6th inning for McDowell with a double chasing Frantz, and eventually scored what became the game winning run later in the inning on an error.

McDowell added a pair of runs aided two Meadville errors in the 7th inning to push its lead to 5-2. Infielder Luke Jackson and outfielder Jackson Hower each went 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Trojan offense.

McDowell improved to 5-2 on the season and 1-0 in league play with the win. Meadville fell to 5-2 (0-1) with the loss.
