Marple Newtown 3, springfield 0

Shortstop Joey Pettinelli, currently ranked No. 146 in the PA Class of 2020, went 2-for-2 with two doubles, a sacrifice fly, two RBI and a run scored to lead the Marple Newtown offense on Thursday. The Tigers broke open a 1-0 game in the top of the 6th inning aided by a run scoring double off the bat of Pettinelli. The junior later scored the Tigers' third run on a sacrifice fly.

Junior Shane Benedict and senior Alden Mathes, a Richmond recruit, combined on a three hit shutout. Benedict allowed three hits over four innings while striking out two and walking two. Mathes did not allow a hit in his three innings of work while punching out seven Springfield hitters.

With the win the Tigers moved to 14-2 on the season. Springfield fell to 2-16 with the loss.
