Inside the Northeast Procase: 2023 RHP Tyler Pitzer (South Fayette/South Carolina commit)

Dan Cevette
President, NY/PA

The Northeast Procase will take place February 20, 2022 at the Liberty Arena in Williamsport, PA. This event marks the 2nd annual event where committed players from NY/NJ/PA will be on full display showing off all of their hard work this preseason. Currently this event is shaping up to be the most talent filled preseason event in our NY/PA history with 80+ players headed to Williamsport. Of those current 75 players, 17 players are committed to Power 5 conferences.

INSIDE THE NORTHEAST PROCASE

Tyler Pitzer RHP / OF / South Fayette, PA / 2023

Pitzer is no stranger to PBR having attended five events including the prestigious Future Games last summer, hosted at Lakepoint Sports Complex outside the greater Atlanta area. Over the course of two years the blue collar South Western Pennsylvania prospect has built an impressive baseball resume to date. Currently ranked No. 170 nationally and No. 5 in the Keystone State, Pitzer has the raw athleticism to be a true two-way threat at the next-level. The swing from the left-side is fluid, repeatable, and the ball jumps off his barrel with low effort. His defensive skills are more than serviceable while roaming the OF with an above average arm.

Personally, I feel the South Carolina commit will make the biggest impact at the next-level from the mound. The limbs are lean and loose while the lower half works efficiently down the mound. There's no restrictions to his fluid arm-action and he's able to repeat his delivery consistently from both the full-wide up and the stretch (side-step at times). His FB comes out of a power 3/4 slot with slight head tilt towards 1st base. Easy velocity sitting 88-90 mph with plenty of ceiling. His CH has fastball arm-speed sitting upper 70's while his CB, to me, is the separator pitch. Pitzer shows comfort throwing the CB in any count, uses it as a get me over strike and also as a swing-and-miss pitch. The CB has tight 11/5 shape hovering around 70 mph. Ultra competitive and expecting to see some gains this preseason.

I can't wait to see him compete this February at our Northeast Procase in Williamsport, PA.
