Mansfield Mountaineers Announce 2017 Early Signing Class

Header LogoThe Mansfield Mountaineers and head coach Harry Hilson have announced the signing of four players to National Letters of Intent, one of which hails from the Keystone State along with three signees from New Jersey. The Mountaineers went 18-27-1 in 2016, including a 6-21-1 mark in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Mansfield made three consecutive trips to the NCAA DII World Series under the guidance of Hilson from 1992 through 1994.

2017 EARLY COMMITS

Jake MankeJ.P. ShawMansfield dipped into New Jersey for a trio of recruits in this class with each displaying two-way abilities. Jake Manke (Lakeland Regional) was a 2nd Team All-Big North selection as a pitcher in 2016. Hunter DePrimo (North Warren Regional) is a power right-handed arm who was among the state leaders in strikeouts during his junior year. Ethan Schuster (Middle Township) is a projectable 6-foot-2, 200-pound RHP/3B who has been a three-year varsity starter.

Hilson didn't have to search far for the lone Pennsylvania recruit in this class. North Penn-Mansfield RHP/1B J.P. Shaw decided to stay home to play his college baseball. The Mansfield native led the Tigers to their first PIAA District 4 title since 2004 last year.
