No. 8 Travis Blankenhorn

PBR Draft Notes: June 3, 2015 The only thing scouts seem to agree on with this Kentucky recruit is that he will end up moving off his listed position of shortstop. There seems to be a split camp on his offensive upside. He shows raw power in batting practice, but whether or not that will translate to games is still in question???an important one considering he profiles as a corner guy. As is typical for Northeast bats facing predominantly subpar pitching, it is tough to know what to make of nearly half of his hits this spring going for extra bases. There is some buzz on his name as high as the third to fourth rounds, but that may not be enough to pry him from Kentucky.

Blankenhorn went on to be drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the third round and played 14 games in the Gulf Coast Leauge before moving to Elizabethtown in the Appalachian League. During his rookie campaign in minor league action he hit a combined .244 with three home runs while driving in 23 runs.
