No. 4 SHANE MUNTZ

Shane MuntzPBR Notes: High School Season (April 2016) Sat 88-90 and touched 91 for 2.2 innings before a bout of wildness spurred an early call to the bullpen. Pitches out of a high three-quarter slot with easy delivery. Fastball had some life when down in the zone. 11/5 curveball at 74-76 was sharp and had depth; chance to be a power putaway pitch for him. Also, showed a rare, firm change-up at 82-84. Can field his position as he made a nice play on a push bunt six inches off the third base line, as well as on a tapper up the first base line that he fielded, came under control, and got to the appropriate arm slot to complete the throw. Offensively, he hit two home runs (a hooked line drive to the left field corner and a lofted fly ball to right field), although both would have likely been doubles in a bigger ballpark. Starts from a slightly closed stance and takes a big, controlled leg lift to a square landing. Moved behind the plate after his stint on the mound; received well with strong glovehand and exhibited flexibility in his receiving stance.

Muntz is currently ranked No. 2 in PA and No. 58 in the PBR combined Class of 2017 rankings and signed his National Letter of Intent with Virginia Tech in November.
