As the staff at PBR-PA is ready to embark on 2022, let's take a look at players that are ready to make that next jump during this year's Preseason All-State Tour.

Preseason All state - northwest

Andrew Malec 3B / RHP / Cathedral Prep, PA / 2023

Rankings  StateRank: 62 / POS: 5


What to expect: Long, athletic frame with pop at the plate and high spin numbers off the mound (FB - 2495 RPM, CB - 2409 RPM) 

What we'd like to see: Added strength to the projectable 6-foot-4, 180 lb frame that translates to metrics trending up. Increased velocity on the FB with a swing and miss secondary pitch.

Luca Bertolasio SS / OF / Hickory, PA / 2023

What to expect: Quick mover with sub 7 second d60 yard dash time, strength from a compact frame. Clean defensive actions in the INF and OF

What we'd like to see: More barrels and line drives in BP while taking on the top of the order, table setter approach that he profiles best in.

Hunter Thomas LHP / OF / Titusville, PA / 2023

Rankings  StateRank: 174 / POS: 10


What to expect: Lean, lanky build with some feel for the body. Long arm swing that gets down the mound nicely. Low to mid 80's fastball with a high ceiling. Excellent PROJ

What we'd like to see: Dialed in command with a tick up in velocity. Needs to develop a reliable secondary pitch. Overall added strength and movement efficiency.

Nick Hamilton RHP / OF / McDowell, PA / 2024


What to expect: Big frame with strength in the lower half. Uphill swing that induces fly balls and occasional line drive. Lingering pop in the bat. Sweeping slider with tilt that can be a quality out pitch. 

What we'd like to see: Increased feel for the frame and strength translating into all facets of the game. Added FB velo to go with the already very downhill feel that Hamilton creates.
