By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

The summer rush of PBR events in Pennsylvania and West Virginia kicked into high gear over the past two weeks with the PA Top Prospect Games (June 17-18), Shenandoah Valley College Prospect Showcase (June 23) and the PA Underclass Games (June 24-25) offering college coaches a glimpse at some 175 prospects in a short period of time.

Over the course of the past week we have been analyzing the prospects that performed by position. Today we take a look at the middle infielders that participated in the PA Underclass Games.

PA Underclass Games:
Middle infielders

Top Prospect

Danny LongSS/RHP Danny Long (Pennridge), 2016

Long was not only the top middle infield prospect, but the top overall prospect in attendance. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound junior is likely to be a 3B at the next level, but flashed the athleticism and arm strength (83 mph) to man the shortstop position until his physical frame dictates a move. Long ran a 6.87 60-yard dash and flashed serious pop in his bat during batting practice from a square stance. Long gets to extension repeatedly and the ball jumps off his barrel as evidenced by his 90 mph bat exit velocity. Long rounded out his impressive two day performance by sitting 86-87 from a high 3/4 arm slot. His 11/5 breaking curveball showed tight rotation at 76 mph and Long attacked the strike zone early in the count.
