PBR Eval & Measurables Showcase Analysis: Underclassmen

The PBR Evaluation & Measurables Showcase took place Saturday at the Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim, PA. A total of 45 prospects from across two states showcased their talents with prospects representing the classes of 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.. Today we begin our analysis of all prospects in attendance by reviewing those prospects in the Class of 2021 and 2022.

Class of 2021

Andrew MuracoAndrew Muraco, 2B/RHP, Franklin Regional
5-foot-8, 145-pound two-way prospect has grown three inches and added 25 pounds to his frame in the past year which was evident in improved measurables across the board. The left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a short leg-lift stride from a high hands load. Showcased a solid feel for the barrel with and ability to use all fields with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Also flashed developing ability to create backspin. Displayed active feet defensively with a soft glove hand and improved 75 mph arm strength across the diamond. The righty sat 71-73 on the mound from a 3/4 arm slot with an easy, fluid delivery. Also showed a 62 mph curveball with solid 11/5 rotation and a 69 mph changeup at fastball arm speed.

Class of 2022

Jake AwenowiczJake Awenowicz, 1B/RHP, Norwin HS
5-foot-7, 115-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a leg lift  stride to initiate his swing. Displayed the ability to routinely barrel the baseball with a bat exit velocity of 64 mph. Showcased a flat barrel path with some length to his swing. Defensively the current 7th grade prospect showcased accurate 64 mph arm strength across the diamond from first base with a soft glove hand and solid foot work. The two-way prospect sat 61-64 on the mound out of a high 3/4 arm slot with some hook in the back while also commanding a 60 mph changeup thrown with similar arm speed. Overall game will benefit from physical maturity and strength gains moving forward.
