District 6 Playoff Scores:

Altoona 2,  Central Mountain 1
Altoona won the District 6 AAAA Championship last night at Peoples Natural Gas Field, home of the Altoona Curve. Christian Helsel, an Ole Miss recruit, blanked Central Mountain on two singles, struck out eight and didn't walk a batter. He retired the Wildcats in order in the first, third, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

Hollidaysburg 3, Somerset 1
Somerset won the District 6 AAA Championship yesterday at Peoples Natural Gas Field, home of the Altoona Curve. Dom Viduya threw six innings of two hit baseball to pick up the win. Brett Hileman came on in the seventh inning to pick up the save.

District 3 Playoff Scores:

West York 7,  No. 23 Lancaster Catholic 4
Lancaster Catholic took a calculated risk and it backfired. West York jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first two innings before LC’s ace, Ian Bentley, took the mound. From that point forward Lancaster Catholic worked on cutting the lead and getting back into the game, but the deficit was too great.  West York (19-3) moves on to the District 3 AAA semi-finals.  Lancaster Catholic (20-5) ends its season.

Lampeter-Strasburg 9,  No. 12 Hershey 6
LS (18-6) knocked out 15 hits and scored in every inning but the fifth to move on to the District 3 AAA semi-finals. Hershey (22-2) scored six runs in the last three innings, but saw its season come to an end.

No. 11 Cedar Crest 9,  South Western 4
Cedar Crest (19-4) moved on to the next round of the District 3 AAAA playoffs. South Western’s (14-8) season comes to an end.

No. 16 Northern York  6,  Fleetwood 5
Northern York (18-5) downed Fleetwood (15-6) to move on in the District 3 AAA tournament.

Penn Manor 9,  Lower Dauphin 4
Penn Manor (13-9) upset Lower Dauphin (17-5) to stay alive in the District 3 AAAA tournament despite being outhit 12-7.

Central Dauphin 6,  Wilson Westlawn 0
Justin Rorher pitched a complete game four-hitter to lead Central Dauphin (13-9) to victory.

District 11 Playofff Scores:

No. 8 Liberty 3,  Whitehall 1
Liberty (21-3) scored two runs in the second inning and cruised to the next round of the District 11 AAAA playoffs.
