Preseason Preview: Loyalsock Township HS (District 4)

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

The Loyalsock Township Lancers had an impressive season in 2012, but their goals for 2013 and beyond are even bigger. The Lancers are coming off a 13-1 conference winning campaign, a District 4 Class AA Championship and a 21-3 overall record. They return eight starters from a year ago and four pitchers who saw significant action in 2012. They will be among the preseason favorites to finish the 2013 season with a trip to State College for the PIAA Finals.

Coach Jeremy Eck feels like his Lancers are a complete team that should have great pitching depth, solid team defense, a strong offense and great team speed. As for a weakness, some might see it as a plus; the Lancers are still very young. The forecast for 2013 is very bright.

Following is a look at players who are likely to contribute to the Lancers' success this season.

Class of 2013:

  • RHP/IF Zack Clark - 6'3", 200-pound senior who has an upper 80's fastball.
  • RHP/IF Ethan Moore - 6'3", 195-pound versatile player who will likely see action at multiple positions.

Class of 2014:

  • 2B Phil Krizon - 6'0", 170-pound MIF who is very athletic.
  • OF Nick Difranseco - 5'8", 160-pound OF with excellent foot speed.
  • OF/LHP Robbie Kline - 5'8", 175-pound left-handed hitter who will see time on the mound.

Class of 2015:

  • SS/RHP Kyle Datres - 6'0", 175-pound prospect who hit .519 as a freshman with nine doubles, three triples and three homeruns. Datres is capable of touching 90 mph from the mound and is ranked No. 2 in the PA Class of 2015.
  • OF/RHP Jimmy Webb - 6'1", 175-pound prospect who runs a 6.50 60-yard dash. Webb hit .507 in 2012 with six doubles, eight triples, a home run and 28 RBI. He is ranked No. 3 in the PA Class of 2015.
  • RHP/INF Luke Glavin - 6'2", 175-pound long-limbed prospect with a mid-80's fastball. Glavin is ranked No. 12 in the PA Class of 2015.
