Preseason Preview: Northampton HS (District 11)

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

KramerThe Northampton HS Konkrete Kids finished the 2012 season with an overall record of 12-9, in third place in their conference behind eventual District 11 Champion Nazareth. Returning from that roster are six every day starters and three pitchers with varsity experience. Head Coach Mick Sugra feels that a lack of significant returning pitching could be his team's weakness this season. However, Sugra is also quick to point out that this version of the Konkrete Kids will be a hard working, blue collar unit that should win should find a way to win its fair share of games.

Sugra will look to his seniors to lead the team this season, led by catcher Cody Kramer, a 2012 1st Team Class AAAA All-State selection, who is a NJ Institute of Technology recruit. Kramer is a 5-foot-11, 160-pound prospect who is currently ranked No. 122 in the PA Class of 2013.

Kramer will not be alone. Other seniors who should make significant contributions include; 3B/DH/RHP Eli Shoemaker, 1B Mark Szoke, OF Brandon Heimbach and utility player Dane Hooven.

Juniors 2B Evan Grube and 1B Matt Durich along with sophomore SS Harley Davidson will also factor into Northampton's efforts to return to the state playoffs. Davidson was the Varsity starter at shortstop as a freshman in 2012.
