By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

There is one week until the culminating event of the fall, the Elite Prospect Showcase. Registrations for the event will not close until October 29, but today we take a look at some of the top middle infield prospects that are scheduled to attend.

Alex DirienzoSS/RHP Alex Dirienzo, Somerset HS, Class of 2014

Dirienzo is one of the top middle infield prospects still uncommitted in the Class of 2014. He has the athleticism to play just about anywhere on the field. He has an 83 mph arm across the diamond with a quick release and runs a 7.15 60-yard dash. Dirienzo sat 83-85 during a bullpen session just one week ago. The right handed hitter has shown an 84 mph bat exit velocity out of a slightly open stance and went 3-for-7 with two doubles in game play at the PA Top Prospect Games in June.

Ross Dirienzo2B/3B Ross Direnzo, Somerset HS, Class of 2014

Dirienzo is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound left handed hitter that has some natural lift to his swing path. He has shown some gap power while squaring the baseball consistently with an 87 mph bat exit velocity. Dirienzo went 2-for-7 with a double and a triple in game play at the PA Top Prospect Games in June. He displayed the ability to play through the baseball and a solid arm from his infield position with throws of 80 mph across the diamond.

2B/SS Ty Reginelli, Mars Area HS, Class of 2015

Reginelli is a 5-foot-9, 150-pound left-handed hitter that hits from a square stance with excellent hand action to keep the bat head on plane through the hitting zone. Reginelli turned in a bat exit velocity of 81 mph and squared the baseball repeatedly to all fields during batting practice at the PA Top Prospect Games in June. He has an athletic frame and room for growth physically. He showcased soft hands and the ability to play through the baseball with throws of 78 mph across the diamond. Reginelli plays travel baseball with the Indiana Prospects.

SS/2B Riley McGinley, Owen J. Roberts HS, Class of 2016

McGinley is a 5-foot-8, 140-pound middle infielder with room to add to his athletic frame. He was a member of the varsity roster as a freshman in 2013 and plays travel baseball with the Chester County Crawdads.

SS/RHP Matt Gorman, William Penn Charter, Class of 2017

Gorman is a 5-foot-11, 160-pound prospect that was highlighted with the pitchers that will be in attendance. The freshman is a talented two-way prospect with the arm strength to play shortstop as evidenced by his 80 mph fastball.
