Colin Gibbons-Fly is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound SS from Mercersburg Academy. He had an impressive showing in early October at the PA Top Prospect Games, being named the MVP of the Black Team. PBR: Where have you decided to attend college and why did you make this choice?
Gibbons-Fly: I chose George Washington for the education and weight of the degree. I also am impressed with the direction the program is heading with Coach Richie and his assistants stepping in along with the addition of the brand new stadium.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Gibbons-Fly: Mount St. Mary's, Eastern Kentucky, and UNC-Greensboro.

PBR: Was distance from home a factor in your decision?
Gibbons-Fly: Yes it was. GW is a great distance from home, its out of state but still in a location where my parents can come watch me play.

PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Gibbons-Fly: Coach Lorber saw me in Jupiter, FL a couple years ago, then saw me again late this summer. Coach Lorber and I have a great relationship and he's been awesome, but also honest with me in the recruiting process.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Gibbons-Fly: They are hoping that I can play a big role, they want me to be a big part of their development as an all around program.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help your team? Gibbons-Fly: I'd say my biggest strength is my hitting and all around offense. I love to hit and I score a lot of runs for teams.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience from this past summer?
Gibbons-Fly: I played for the Mid-Atlantic Rookies. Every time we get together is a memorable experience, but the most memorable was our last game down in Jupiter, FL last year and playing in front of that many scouts and people.

PBR: What is your current GPA?
Gibbons-Fly: 80%

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into next season?
Gibbons-Fly: Individually I just want to be a leader and keep getting better, stronger and faster. As for the team, I'd like to win our conference championship.
