RHP Rhett Jacoby Commits to Penn State University

Rhett JacobyRhett Jacoby is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound right-handed pitcher with a long, lean frame. He has room to continue adding to his frame and his velocity. Jacoby sat at 85 mph with late life to his fastball out of a high 3/4 arm slot at the Elite Prospect Showcase in November. His 76 mph curveball had 11/5 breaking action and he showed some arm side run to his 78 mph changeup thrown at near fastball arm speed. Jacoby displayed the same mechanics and velocities out of the stretch and continues to show strides towards becoming one of the top right-handed arms in this class.

Jacoby, ranked No. 33 in the PA Class of 2015, impressed those in attendance in November with his abilities. His successful performance led to interest from a number of college programs and ultimately led to him announcing his verbal commitment to Penn State University.

The junior went 1-0 in 15.2 innings of work for the Parkland Trojans in 2013. With the graduation of RHP Tyler Duff (Williams College), Jacoby is likely see much more time on the mound this spring. The Trojans will need to replace the 52 innings that Duff logged on the mound in his senior season. Jacoby will team with 2014 RHP Gabe Mosser (Shippensburg recruit), 2014 RHP Alex Flynn (6-0 in 2013), 2015 LHP Connor Higgins (Indiana commit), and 2015 RHP Chris Rabasco (No. 22 in the class) to form one of the most talented pitching staffs in the state.
