Colton Hock, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound RHP from Bloomsburg HS became the first big name in the Class of 2014 to come off the board last week when he announced his intentions to attend Stanford University. Currently the No. 5 ranked player in the Class of 2014, Hock had also been considering Duke, North Carolina, USC and Pepperdine. Hock is a tireless worker and will now look to use the next 20 months to build on his already impressive talents. He currently sits in the upper 80's with a slider that tops at 75mph. Hock has seen continual strides in velocity over the last two years and shows no signs that those gains won't continue.

The commitment to Stanford comes on the heels of a whirlwind summer of baseball for Hock. The Bloomsburg junior plays his summer and fall baseball with the Evoshield Canes M-A program. His travels this summer took him to numerous DI campuses in the eastern half of the country. He also spent time showcasing his abilities at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN. To top things off, he was one of two Class of 2014 prospects to be named to the Yankees Area Code roster which afforded him the opportunity to participate in the Area Code Nationals in California. It was during this trip that he had an opportunity to get introduced to the Stanford program.
