Race to State College Continues Today

The chase for an elusive state championship is still a reality for 32 teams across the state. Weather permitting, that number will be reduced to 16 by the end of the day.

State quarterfinal action will take place today with four quarterfinal games in each classification. Teams still alive will need to win today and again in the semifinals on June 10 in order to make a trip to State College for the championships on June 14.

Following are the teams remaining in the field of 32 that were ranked in the Prep Baseball Report final regular season poll.

Class AAAA

No. 4 Seneca Valley, No. 6 North Allegheny, No. 7 Coatesville, No. 24 Lower Dauphin, Pennridge/ State College (others to watch)

Class AAA

No. 1 South Park, No. 4 Upper Moreland, No. 10 Holy Ghost Prep, No. 16 Keystone Oaks, Punxsutawney/Tamaqua (others to watch)

Class AA

No. 1 Salisbury Township, No. 2 Quaker Valley, No. 3 Loyalsock Township, No. 7 Delone Catholic, No. 8 Beaver Area, Shady Side (others to watch)

Class A

No. 2 Our Lady of Sacred Heart, No. 7 Bishop McCort, No. 12 California, No. 15 Calvary Christian, No. 11 Devon Prep, Old Forge (others to watch)
