Recent PA Signings and Commitments

While the high school baseball season heats up and conference races begin to take shape a number of prospects in the state have recently made their college commitments or have signed their national letters of intent. Following are highlights of those who have chosen colleges recently.

JAJohn Aiello, SS/RHP, Class of 2015, Germantown Academy

No recent announcement has been bigger than that of Aiello's, the No. 2 ranked player in PA and the No. 10 ranked player in the PBR Class of 2015 combined rankings. Aiello announced his commitment to Wake Forest Thursday. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound sophomore is one of the premier shortstops in the country in the Class of 2015 and has been a member of Team USA for his age group the past two years.

Zachary Schellenger, Class of 2014, Devon Prep

Schellenger is a 6-foot-4, 175-pound RHP who attends Devon Prep. He posted a 6-2 record with a 2.21 ERA as a sophomore. Schellenger sits 86-89 and has committed to Seton Hall.

Andrew Scarpelli, LHP, Class of 2014, Trinity HS

Scarpelli is a 5-foot-9, 155-pound LHP from Trinity HS. Scarpelli went 2-0 as a sophomore in 2012 but has recently seen a significant jump in velocity. He has been sitting 85-88 this winter and has recently touched 90 mph. Scarpelli is ranked No. 57 in the PA Class of 2014 and has committed to Pitt.

Matt Renck, RHP, Class of 2014, Council Rock North HS

Renck is a 6-foot-1, 165-pound RHP who saw considerable innings on the hill as a sophomore in 2012. He sits 79-82 with command of three pitches. Renk is ranked No. 144 in the PA Class of 2014 and has committed to Pitt.

Ted Williams, 2B/SS, Class of 2014, Meadville HS

Williams has announced his commitment to Millersville University. The 5-foot-8, 140-pound middle infielder has hit .417 and .328 in his first two years of high school baseball. Williams has shown an 84 mph arm across the infield and has committed just two errors in his high school career. He is ranked No. 71 in the PA Class of 2014.

Dillon Boyer, SS/RHP, Class of 2013, Connemaugh Township HS

Boyer is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound SS/RHP who is ranked No. 188 in the PA Class of 2013. He has hit nearly .400 for his high school career and is currently hitting at a .688 pace this spring. Boyer finished the 2012 campaign hitting .405 with 24 RBI. Boyer signed with Pitt-Johnstown on Thursday.

Ben Hauser, C/1B, Class of 2013, Central Bucks East

Hauser is ranked No. 201 in the PA Class of 2013 and has committed to Northampton Community College. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound senior hit .298 in 2012.
