pac-10 pulse

Coming off last season's PAC-10 championship, Boyertown Area will rely heavily on its starting pitching in its bid for a repeat.  While the depth of coach Todd Moyer's staff might be a question mark, Bogucki (FB up to 92) and Woodley (good command, quality CB) are as good a tandem as you'll find in the area.  The biggest challenge for Bogucki, PBR PA's #1 ranked 2013, could be ignoring the swarm of radar guns perched behind home plate this year, as many scouts consider him to have top 10-round talent.  2013 IF Daulton Weeks is expected to lead a revamped Bears offense that graduated six of nine starters.

Methacton brings back six starting position players, led by Harwick and Kirkpatrick, to a line-up that, despite the loss of power bat Joey Casselberry (Bloomsburg), should be a strength for a Warriors this spring.  Anthony (6-2, 2.21, 53 K in 63.1 IP) returns to lead an otherwise inexperienced group of pitchers for coach Paul Spiewak.

An old adage offers that you want to build your team to be strong in the middle of the diamond.  If that holds true, Perkiomen Valley coach Nate Hinkle should be very pleased with returning starters Martin, Davis, and 2013 Donovan Squartino holding down center-field, shortstop, and catcher, respectively.  Martin is the headliner, possessing above average speed and a simple approach at the plate.  A number of 2013 arms, led by Schuler (four-pitch mix, fastball 82-85), are expected to carry the load on the mound for the Vikings.

Continuity will be the name of the game in coach Jeff Evans second season, as Pottstown returns virtually its entire roster from one year ago.  6-foot-2, 185-pound 2013 RHP/IF Bailey Brown is an average runner with above average outfield arm strength who also works his fastball at 82-85.  The 2013 trio of 1B/LHP Davis, Mullen, and IF/RHP Richy Masciarelli will anchor the infield as well as bolster the pitching staff for the Trojans.
