The Hotlist: 2019 Overall Rankings Risers

Updates have been made to the 2017 and 2018 Overall Rankings. Next week, we will bring you an update to the 2019 Overall Rankings. In the meantime, here are some sophomores on the rise.

Chris Chaney, RHP, Saint James HS, MD
Chaney made a jump this winter, going from sitting 83-86 to 85-88. He has been pitching in that range this spring thus far. He stands at 6 feet with some projection. He has a short, quick arm action and pitches with some effort. Chaney adds an advanced breaking ball with sharp action and 11/5 shape to make for an advanced two-pitch combination in the 2019 class.

Cam Cox, RHP/OF, Hesston HS, KS
Cox stands at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds and runs a 6.95-second 60. He’s a quick-twitch athlete with an athletic build. At the plate, he has a balanced set-up with a short stride and some rhythm in his hands. He has a loose, quick and over-the-top arm action in the outfield. On the mound, he has a smooth delivery and throws downhill, topping out at 85 and working at 83-85. His fastball shows cutting action at times and his arm slot will drop at times, but he’s mostly over the top. His curveball has 11/5 shape at 67-68 and early break. His changeup is 73-75.
