The Hotlist: Freshmen Contributing On Varsity

By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

Firmly into the 2014 season now, players are finding their grooves and putting up good numbers. It’s notable for any freshman to be on a varsity roster, but even more so for those performing like they have varsity experience. Below is a list of freshmen contributing to their team’s success so far this spring.

Jordon Adell, RHP/OF, Ballard HS, KY
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Adell had an impressive week last week, which landed him as a finalist for Kentucky's Player of the Week award. Adell went 7-for-14 with three doubles, a home run, and eight RBIs, but his week didn't end there. He also tossed a five-inning no-hitter with a fastball that sat 84-87 mph and a sharp 70-72 mph curveball. Adell has been a mainstay in the lineup and pitching rotation all spring for Ballard, who is currently ranked No. 10 in Kentucky's Power 25 rankings.
