Top Performer Report

Ben Ryan has jumped onto the scene over the course of the past year and a half as one of the premier catchers in the state. Ryan has impressed at nearly every facet of the game every time we have had eyes on him. This past February, Ryan put on a show at the Flood City Elite Scout Day. Ryan was the center of attention during his round of BP as he put on a laser show. During his round, Ben posted multiple exit velocities over 100 MPH, with a peak of 110.2(!) MPH. With gaudy bat speed and the physical strength he possesses, Ryan should have no issue with the swing while seeing higher velocity during the spring and even at the next level. Ryan is not a one trick pony though, he also shines behind the dish and has some potential as a corner INF. Ben has a good block ability behind the plate and a strong arm, checking in at 82 MPH from the crouch. Although, to make himself a no doubt catching prospect, the receiving ability would need to be polished slightly. All in all, I would advise baserunners not to test Ryan as his big time velo and quick transfer time yields around a sub 2 pop time. As mentioned earlier, Ryan has potential at the corner INF position at the next level as his foot speed would indicate that of a 1B/3B power hitting infielder. Ryan lights up the radar gun across the infield as he can routinely pump out 88 MPH BB's with ease.
Ben Ryan is one to watch this spring as this is poised to be an enormous year for him. The Indiana Area sophomore should be looking to make a big splash this year. We are looking forward to seeing him in game action during the HS season and during the 2022 PA State Games in June.
