Top Performer Report

Uncommitted '23 RHP/3B Conner Barto (Dallastown Area) was the big winner on the day during the GoWags Scout Day. Barto is a toolsy player with an athletic frame, coming in at 6-foot-3, 190lbs. Barto has the ability to get the job done on both sides of the ball, but really stands out on the mound. At the plate, Barto put on a show with hard hit balls all over the pull side. Barto creates a contact point out in front of his body to where he can lift the ball effectively to the left side of the field. Barto doesn't climb the exit velo ladder too high, but he finds the barrel often through his linear swing. With a peak exit velo of 91.9 MPH on the day, Barto also worked a 70% sweet spot rate during his round. Defensively, Barto moves okay with laid back movements to the balls. Barto fields under his body and really uses his arm to make up for lost time in the fielding process. On the bump, Barto works with slow tempo and goes into a deliberate hand break where the arm stabs down out of the mitt. From there, Barto is able to go north to south very quickly with his shoulders and pull his arm through the throwing window. Barto struggled to plate it up here and there, but he is very raw in the movements down the mound. With enough arm speed to post an 88 MPH career high FB velo, there is something intriguing about this young arm.
