Scouting Report

2/07/21

 

Physical: Strong, durable 5-foot-10, 180-pound frame with advanced athleticism in the actions. 6.90 runner in the 60-yard dash. 

Offensively: RHH - Wide, slightly-open setup as the posture stays over the backside with some rhythm in the hands pre-load. Utilized a controlled lift and replace stride in order to initiate the barrel through an accurate, slight uphill attack into the hitting zone. Recorded a standout 46% line drive rate during batting practice with a middle of the field / pull side approach. The lower half was extremely adjustable helping the hands match plane early and often. Notched a 97 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball coupled with a 355 foot top batted ball distance during batting practice. Impressive hitter who could slot in the middle of a batting order and venture all the way to the top. Hand speed plays admirably in-game. 

Defensively: The primary outfielder stayed behind the ball well with good downhill intent towards the target, fielded off of the left side with confidence in the glove hand; perfect throwing mechanics with hip-shoulder evident allowing for easy carry (92 mph arm) towards the target. Could slot into any of the three OF positions pointing towards positional flexibility.

Physical: Athletic, well put together 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame with noticeable strength in the lower half. 6.93 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH. Balanced, even stance with weight slightly on the backside. The swing is on plane early and rides through a slightly uphill path on the way towards contact. Generated plenty of natural lift and pull-side pop evidenced by a loud batting practice round which saw him wear out the left-centerfield gap. Was on time with consistency showcasing an altogether standout round, 89 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball.  

Defensively: Plays downhill through the baseball in the outfield while fielding the ball to the side of his body. Low to the ground setup in the posture creating first step quickness to either direction and can go get it in the air for his pitchers. Demonstrated comfortability in all routes and displayed an accurate throwing arm out of a loose, high ¾ arm-slot. OF - 84 mph

Demonstrated a physical and athletic 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame with advanced feel for his body and an overall impressive day in all measurable categories. The right-handed hitter begins with a balanced, even stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. A fluid lower half generated present barrel whip and advanced barrel control during batting practice. Hands worked well through a short path while hitting into a stiff front side, yielding an 87 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 6.66 60-yard dash showing off quality speed and ability to be a top of the order guy at the next level. The primary outfielder showcased advanced footwork using a low center of gravity and quick first step to play through the ball with regularity. Notched an accurate 85 mph arm-strength from his position with carry out of a high ¾ arm-slot. Arm-strength and footspeed should suggest the ability to stick at any of the three outfield positions at the next level.

Swing Mechanics: Righty bat with simple, athletic load that leads to a balanced launch.
Hit: Controlled stroke with feel for contact and the ability to manipulate the barrel to make quality barrel strikes. Natural tools are on par for class with a balanced combination of strength/speed to stroke.
Power: 82.7 off the bat in BP.
Offensive Projection: Multiple Roles.

Field:  In the infield he uses aggressive feet, attack the baseball off the bat. Ball skills are above average for his class.  Uses an up tempo pace throughout fielding sequence.  Ball skills on par for his class.

Throw:  Throws over the top, and gets carry on his throws.  Very accurate during his showcase.

Defensive Projection:  Middle infield.  Corner outfield.
