All signs point to the 2020 class being special. There are immensely talented position players with speed and power, as well as pitchers already showcasing premium velocity, high ceilings, and projectable frames. With the introduction of California’s highly-talented class, the 2020 Overall Rankings has expanded to 400 players.

It is important to note that the PBR Overall Rankings only include states that we intimately know from our boots-and-the-ground scouting staff. The updated Top 400 rankings is comprised of our current 36-state coverage area, which now includes California.

Maintaining his spot as the top prospect in the class is RHP Victor Mederos (Coral Reef Senior HS, FL), a Miami recruit, whose premium stuff and durable, projectable frame gives him a chance to develop into a frontline starter in the future.

California’s class immediately shows its strength with six of the top 25 players, and its depth with 57 included overall. RHP/OF Jared Jones (La Mirada HS, CA), a Southern California recruit, is the top prospect in the state, and enters as the No. 2 prospect thanks to an electric arm that produces fastballs up to 95 mph and explode through the zone. He also showcases quick hands at the plate with the ability to drive the ball from the right side, as well as advanced tracking skills in center field, making him a potential two-way prospect moving forward.

Uncommitted RHP/OF Nate Wohlgemuth (Owasso HS, OK) checks in at No. 3, and has been up to 96 mph early on in the spring, and continues to exhibit premium arm strength to go with above average secondary offerings.

Rounding out the top five are OF Austin Hendrick (West Allegheny HS, PA), a Mississippi State recruit and the premier bat in the class with loose wrists and quick hands from the left side, and strong-armed LHP Liam Norris (Green Hope HS, NC), the top left-handed pitcher who has been up to 92 mph.

Of the 400 players listed there are already 262 verbal commitments including 85 of the top 100. Vanderbilt boasts 12 of those commitments including nine of the top 50. Louisville has a total of 10 commitments on the list while Florida, Louisiana State, Texas Christian, and Virginia total nine each.

Noteable risers include: SS Cole Foster (Plano Sr. HS, TX), RHP Carter Baumler (Dowling Catholic HS, IA), C Yanluis Ortiz (Southlake Carroll HS, TX), OF Marquis Jackson (Brother Rice HS, IL), IF Jack Moss (Cherry Creek HS, CO), and 3B Preston Hall (Stuart Cramer HS, NC).
