WV Top Prospect Games: Day One Highlights

The WV Top Prospect Games kicked off Day One activities with two games at the YMCA Kennedy Center Field in Huntington yesterday. Action concludes today with defensive evaluations and two more nine inning games. Look for complete statistical results as well as an analysis of all prospects in attendance during the coming week.

For now here are some of the top performances from the first day of action including today's MEASURABLE data.


Red Team:


+ 2015 SS/RHP Tanner Stanz (Warren) went 1-for-2 with a double at the plate and worked three solid innings on the mound topping at 83 mph with four strikeouts.

+ 2016 3B/RHP Eduardo Flores (Nitro, WV) went 1-for-2 at the plate and worked a clean inning on the mound topping at 85 mph with two strikeouts.

Black Team:


+ 2015 C/3B Hunter Alexander (Blackhawk) and RHP/SS Abe Stearns (Point Pleasant) led the offense with two hits each. 

+ 2016 RHP Jacob Bolander (East Fairmont, WV) worked three innings topping at 82 mph while registering three strikeouts. 

gold team:


+ 2016 RHP/OF Jared Cleghorn (Bridgeport, WV) went 2-for-3 at the plate and flashed an above average curveball during three solid innings on the mound. 

+ 2017 RHP/OF Dylan Appolloni (Bishop Watterson, OH) led off the game with a single and flashed potential on the mound topping at 81 mph and displaying a sharp breaking 73 mph curveball.

+ 2016 2B/SS Dustin Freeman (Morgantown, WV), OF Tristan Lucas (University, WV),SS/3B Brady Lloyd (Mifflinburg Area - 6.89 60-yard dash), 2B/3B Bailey McGrath (Bridgeport, OH) and RHP Michael Pierce (Dawson Bryant, OH) each registered two hits in the ball game.

white team:


+ C Joey Professori (Pine-Richland) flashed advanced receiving and blocking skills while going 2-for-3 at the plate.

+ 2015 RHP Andrue Hughart (Independence, WV - 84 mph, 3 K's) and 2015 LHP Kipp Brewer (Nitro, WV - 81 mph, 7 K's) showcased next level abilities on the mound while yielding just one run over six innings combined.
