Western PA Future Prospects Instructional Showcase: Pitcher Analysis

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

Some of the top Class of 2016, 2017 and 2018 players in Pennsylvania had an opportunity to showcase their abilities on back to back days this past week. Over the next few days we will analyze the talent by position. Today we will breakdown the top pitching prospects from the Western PA Future Prospects Showcase on December 27.

PruskowskiRHP Dominik Pruskowski, Class of 2016, Meadville HS
Although Pruskowski does not list pitching as his primary or secondary position, the 5-foot-10, 135-pound freshman shows promise. He used a high 3/4 delivery topping at 76 mph with a fastball that lacks movement at this point in his development. His 67 mph slider and 65 mph split finger changeup showed potential to be effective pitches with additional work. Pruskowski should see velocity gains over the next several years as his frame fills out.

RHP Jack Brodman, Class of 2016, Hampton HS
Brodman showcased command of three pitches out of a 3/4 arm delivery during his bullpen session. The long limbed right-hander displayed a 73 mph fastball, a 51 mph curveball with a 10/4 break and 61 mph split finger changeup that showed some arm side run. At 6-foot, 135-pounds, Broadman should see a significant increase in velocity over time as his frame fills out.

RHP Christain Milletary, Class of 2017, West Allegheny HS
Milletary topped at 67 mph out of a 3/4 arm slot with much more in the tank. He also showed a 54 mph 11/5 breaking curveball and a 56 mph changeup with good arm side run. The 5-foot-9, 135-pound 8th grader has the ability to add significant velocity over the coming years and should be a pitcher to watch in the Class of 2017.

RHP Ben Wilke, Class of 2016, South Fayette HS
He showcased a 68 mph fastball out of a high 3/4 arm slot. His 11/5 breaking curveball had good rotation at 63 mph. The 6-foot, 215-pound freshman also displayed a 62 mph split finger changeup. Wilke displayed a 3-4 mph spike in velocity from his most recent PBR event in September. As he continues to refine his mechanics he should see additional velocity gains.
