Scouting Report

2/7/16

Fassnacht flashed the top arm strength among middle infielders at the Super 60 Pro Showcase (90 mph). The 5-foot-11, 185-pound right-handed hitter also impressed offensively with a 95 mph bat exit velocity and a very solid round of batting practice. The George Washington recruit showcased more than enough arm strength and athleticism to make an early impact on the left side of the infield at the next level.

4/27/15

5-foot-11, 170-pounder went 1-for-2 with double displaying ability to use all fields. Barreled double to left field and barreled ball to right-center into teeth of wind for an out. Shows superior bat speed (94 mph at most recent workout).

2/15/15

Growing into one of the top defensive prospects in the state, Fassnacht exhibits good feet, very good hands, and a strong arm (89-mph) with carry across the diamond. A switch-hitter, the 5-foot-11, 170-pounder with some strength in his frame and room for more only took BP from the right side on this day. He starts slightly open and strides to square, holding his hands at a good launch point with an upright barrel. His head stays still, he flashes quality bat speed (92-mph exit velo), and has some feel for creating backspin. Fassnacht also ran a 6.85 60-yard dash.

11/1/14

Fassnacht continues his upward trajectory. He logged the top arm strength of the day, throwing 91-mph across the diamond, while also showing good feet, very good hands, and an ability to make plays on the move. The switch-hitter starts slightly open and takes a short stride to square from the right side. He holds his hands at a good launch point and repeats his swing, which has a bit of length, but with bat speed (85-mph exit velocity). His left-handed stroke also features a bit of length, but his hands work, he stays inside the ball well, and posted an 81-mph exit velocity.

6/18/14

Fassnacht's hard work has placed him in conversations relating to the top middle infielders in the state in the Class of 2016. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound SS/2B flashed an 86 mph arm across the diamond and displayed much improved feet (6.97 60-yard dash). The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and strides to closed. Fassnacht showcased an 85 mph bat exit velocity and turned heads with a barreled fly ball that was caught near the 400' sign in dead center field.

1/20/14

Fassnacht showcased one of the stronger infield arms of the day at 80 mph across the diamond. The 5-foot-9, 155-pound middle infielder showed a soft glove hand and the ability to pay through the baseball. The switch-hitter displayed quiet actions from both sides of the plate that allowed him to routinely square the baseball to all fields. His dominant right-side swing produced a bat exit velocity of 80 mph and the ability to drive the baseball on occasion. Fassnacht's left-handed swing is flatter, and a bit longer at 74 mph. The sophomore showcased improving foot speed at 7.30 (60-yard dash).

7/30/13

Fassnacht displayed soft hands, quick feet and developing arms strength in the middle infield with throws of 79 mph across the diamond. The 5-foot-7, 140-pound prospect demonstrated the ability to switch hit during batting practice, but hit solely as a righty in game action going 1-for-3 with a double on day two of the event. Fassnacht, a natural right-handed hitter showcased an 82 mph bat exit velocity from the right side of the plate.

2/23/13

Fassnacht is a 5-foot-7, 140-pound switch-hitting middle infield prospect that continues to get better. He showed a 75 mph arm and good range during his defensive workout. Fassnacht is fundamentally sound and will continue to develop defensively as he matures physically. Offensively he shows the potential to be a legitimate switch-hitter at the high school level. His left-handed swing is a bit long and less explosive than his dominate side. As a right-handed hitter he showcased a 78 mph bat exit velocity and the ability to square the baseball consistently. He stays behind the baseball well from the right side and gets to extension regularly.

1/26/13

Fassnacht has shown steady progress in all facets of the game since we first saw him in June of 2012. The 5-foot-7, 140-pound SS showcased soft hands and the ability to play through the baseball on throws of 77 mph across the diamond. The switch-hitter displayed a 77 mph bat exit velocity and squared the baseball consistently from both sides of the plate. He showed better bat speed and pop from the right side of the plate, but his left-handed swing continues to progress as well.

1/13/13

Fassnacht continues to develop as a switch-hitter and as a defender. As the 5-foot-7, 140-pound prospect continues to get physically bigger and stronger he should see continued development in arm strength and bat speed. Fassnacht ran a much improved 7.60 60-yard dash and showed developing arm strength with throws of 73 mph across the diamond. The 2B/SS has soft hands and sound fundamentals in the middle infield. Fassnacht used a 76 mph bat exit velocity to square the baseball consistently from both sides of the plate during his round of batting practice.

12/28/12

Fassnacht showed considerable improvement as a switch hitter since we last saw him in June. From the right side of the plate he showed excellent rhythm to his swing with a strong lower half. Fassnacht is still developing his skills as a left-handed hitter, but displayed the potential to be a legitimate switch hitter moving forward.

6/14/12

Fassnacht was the top underclass prospect from the event. The 5-foot-4, 125-pound switch hitter showcased well at the plate and in the field. Offensively, Fassnacht displayed a quick bat and the ability to hit line drives from both sides of the plate. In the field, Fassnacht demonstrated advanced fundamentals and soft hands.
