As the fall comes to a close and the 2022 showcase outdoor season ends, our staff sat down for a modest update to the 2023 class rankings. In what is shaping up to be one of the deepest crops of pitching in recently memory, 11 arms pace the Top 20 while 23 of the Top 50 profile as primary pitchers.
Some shuffling occurred inside the Top 10, as a new #3 was crowned in '23 RHP Tyler Pitzer (South Fayette) along with two new faces making their debut: '23 RHP Miguel Hugas (Shaler Area) at #8 and '23 SS Ryan Zuckerman (Pennsbury) at #10.
Multiple upside names remain just on the fringe such as next-level ready '23 RHP Charlie O'Schell (Malvern Prep) and '23 RHP Kayden Faulcon (Pennsbury), while '23 C/OF Jason Janesko (Riverside) is a bat equipped to potentially make the leap.
Included below is a look at the Top 10 in the class, a full list of the 355 ranked players, the top uncommitted by position, and this update's risers attached with scouting notes.

Miguel Hugas RHP / OF / Shaler Area, PA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 5
The recent Alabama commit offers premium arm-strength at 6-foot-3, 205lbs with ability to blow the FB by into the low-to-mid 90’s. Commands a top-to-bottom breaking-ball and mixes a deceptive upper-70’s CH for strikes. Should draw plenty of draft interest this spring. |

Ryan Zuckerman 3B / SS / Pennsbury, PA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 10 / POS: 1
Tooled up with longer, athletic levers throughout, Zuckerman continued hitting vs. top pitching on the national scene this summer. The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder finds the barrel with both power and contact for 100 mph exit velocities, also running a 6.68 60-yard dash in that frame. |

Matt Goldenbaum RHP / 2B / Holy Ghost Prep, PA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 17 / POS: 9
One of the higher ceiling arms statewide, the South Florida recruit hides the ball with hip-coil from a drop/drive delivery. Lighting-fast arm gets chases on an advanced 75-78 mph slider and elevates the FB at times out of a lower release-height (5.4 ft, 87-90). Uber-athletic body at 6-foot, 175lbs with elastic traits. |

Scott Doran RHP / SS / William Penn Charter, PA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 39 / POS: 16
The projectable 6-foot-4, 215lb righty features a pinpoint four-pitch mix out of a direct, H ¾ slot that uses momentum to get down the slope. Reaches into the glove for 88-92 mph FB and really kills spin on the CH at 78-80. There’s more to like in a 75-77 mph SL with lateral bite off a similar plane. Uncommitted |

Gavin Homer RHP / SS / Indiana Area, PA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 70 / POS: 26
It was hard to make more of an impression than Homer at the PA State Games, grabbing a 90 mph with intriguing tunnel on the arsenal. A durable 6-foot, 190lb build produced life to the FB and saw swing-and-miss on a sharp, low-70’s curveball across the plate. Held velocity at two events after a solid high school workload. Uncommitted |

Nathan Kress 3B / SS / LaSalle College, PA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 94 / POS: 6
Multiple flashes of high-end bat-speed (85.5 mph peak) with a repeatable swing that deals damage to the pull-side. Physical, middle-of-the-order build at 6-foot-3, 215lbs and will stick at the hot corner with above-average feel to defend. An 87 mph throwing arm carries across the dirt. Uncommitted |

Andrew Brown RHP / Council Rock North , PA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 137 / POS: 43
Working back to 100% health this spring, Brown rode a visibly strong fall up the rankings, where he currently sits at #137. The frame is much improved at 6-foot-3, 215lbs, attacking downhill from the stretch-only. Mostly 84-86, T87 mph with leverage on a 71-74 mph 11/5 breaker, weak contact. Uncommitted |

Cooper Bryan 3B / 1B / Malvern Prep, PA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 139 / POS: 11
Starting to come into his own with pound-for-pound juice at 6-foot-3, 185lbs, Bryan was a Northeast Senior Games standout and has since announced his commitment to Shepherd. Rotational mover in the box slots the hands early with some loft in the approach, into the 366 foot distance range (94 mph exit). |

Eddie Kaufman OF / RHP / Mid Valley, PA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 154 / POS: 25
An obvious pop-up follow while attending a neighboring showcase in New York, Kaufman went 6.83, 89 mph OF arm, and 98 mph exit velocity out of an efficient, muscular 6-foot-2, 182lb frame. High-waisted with more to come and barrel-whip through the zone. Uncommitted |

Drew Hollowell SS / 2B / Lower Merion, PA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 219 / POS: 37
Prototypical middle-of-the-field skill set with some bounce at Ascent Scout Day back in September. The 6-foot, 180-pounder made tough plays in either direction and finished with an 86 mph infield arm. On the rise offensively utilizing a developing gap-to-gap approach from the right side (92 mph exit). Uncommitted |
